The final tally is in! $70,100. It was amazing to see how hard the Kehilla worked to pull this off. Let me tell you, it ain't easy to call people you haven't spoken to for years to ask for money. Or even if you've kept in touch. The success of the campaign was only from Hashem.

With much gratitude to Hashem, we take pleasure in announcing that construction has begun!
The students and kindergartners from the schools overlooking our building site were treated to an earth moving demonstration. A backhoe (or a "tractorrr" as any heavy machinery is called in Israel) began preparing the ground, cleaning out residual debris, and leveling the earth. A gala melava malka was held Motzai Shabbos Parshas Ki Sisa to celebrate the haschalas habinyan. In attendance were prominent Rabbonim, including members of the Beis Din, as well as the mayor, R' Meir Rubinstein, his right-hand R' Yehuda Deutsch, and the head of the Degel HaTorah party in Beitar R' Dudi Zaltz.
The attendees enjoyed a hot catered meal. Speakers included Rav Hardt, Rav of Emunas Yisroel; Harav Tzvi Braverman, the Av Beis Din of Beitar; Rav Avraham Shtiglitz, Rav of Sanz in Beitar and member of the Beis Din; Rav Barzovsky, Rav of Slonim and member of the Beis Din; the mayor R' Meir Rubinstein; R' Dudi Zaltz; as well as other Rabbonim. Members of the kehilla, the Rabbonim and the mayor signed the megillas hayesod, the foundation document of the building outlining the purpose of the shul as a place of Torah, Tefillah, and Avodas Hashem. Rabbi Stark's rebbi, Rav Yosef Yitzchok Lerner sent his best wishes, as did Rav Meir Simcha Aurbach (son of Rav S. Z. Aurbach zt"l) and Rav Nissan Kaplan. On Erev Shabbos Parshas Ki Sisa, Rabbi Stark, accompanied by R' Benzion Kreiness and R' Yossi Gass, was allowed a few minutes with Maran Rav Chaim Kanievsky shlit"a.
Rabbi Stark was mechabed the Gadol Hador with pouring the first bit of cement which will be placed into the foundation of our future home. |
